Take various cities as the competition unit, and it is possible to participate individually. It shall be divided into male groups and female groups according to the age distinction
Article 8 Age Group:
Group A: 8-13;
Group B: 14-18;
Group C: 19-28;
Group D: 29-40;
Group E: 41-55;
Group F: 56-66;
Group G: 67-74;
Group H: 75 and 75+.
Note: age calculation shall strictly according to the date of birth on the applicants’ ID card/Passport (by the deadline of entries: Sep. 15, 2008).? The category which has less than 5 applicants shall be merged into the upper category (take Group A as the top), if the category of Group A is insufficient, it shall be merged into the next category.?
Article 9 Events:
Detailed in the application form;
Note: the same events of Quanshu or Weapons shall be put into the same category. The category which has less than 5 applicants shall be merged into the corresponding category of other Quanshu or other Weapon.
Article 10 Participation Requirements:
10.1 Weapon competitors shall prepare their own weapons for their respective events;
10.2 Competitors shall wear the competition costumes or sports wear during all the competitions. It is forbidden to wear any commercial Logo or ads on the clothes;
10.3 Each competitor may at most enter 2 individual events, and it is possible to also enter the group events and the dual events;
10.4 Each team entering the dual events shall be composed of no more than 3 (including 3) competitors, no matter sex and age;
10.5 Each team entering the group events shall be composed of at least 6 (including 6) competitors, male and female athletes could be mixed. Music could be accompanied, and the CD or tape shall be prepared by the participating teams themselves.
Article 11 Time Limit:
11.1 Individual event shall be no more than 2 minutes;
11.2 Taijiquan shall be no more than 6 minutes (the head judge shall blow a whistle when the athlete performs to 5 minutes);
11.3 Taiji Weapons, Mulanquan and Mulan Weapons shall be no more than 4 minutes (the head judge shall blow a whistle when the athlete performs to 3 minutes);
11.4 Dual event shall be no more than 1 minute (male and female shall be placed together);
11.5 Group event shall be no more than 5 minutes.
Note: For individual event and dual event, 2 seconds over the time limit shall deduct 0.1 point, and analogizes in turn; For Taiji events, Mulan events and group event, 5 seconds over the time limit shall deduct 0.1 point, and analogizes in turn.
Article 12 Competition Method:
12.1 the competition shall be conducted in accordance with the 1991 edition of the“Rules for Wushu Taolu Competition” endorsed by the Chinese Wushu Association and the supplement regulation made by the Organizing Committee of the 1st Universal Chinese Sports;
12.2 All the judges shall be invited by the Organizing Committee of the 1st Universal Chinese Sports.
Article 13 Placing and Awards:
13.1 Each male/female individual event shall be awarded separately. When the participants of the event are over 10 (including 10), the first 5 shall be awarded; when the participants of the event are between 6 and 9, the first 4 shall be awarded; when the participants of the event are 5, the first 3 shall be awarded;
13.2 For dual event, does not differentiate the age and sex, and the first 3 shall be awarded; for group event, the first 3 of each age group shall be awarded. If the participating teams are less than 3, the result shall not be calculated, and be considered as performance.
Article 14 Awarding Method (total prize: CNY 60,000):
14.1 All-around champions
14.1.1 Awards the male and female all-around champions of each age group, 16 winners in total. The prize of the all-around champion is CNY 3,000 and all the all-around champions shall be published on the Hero List of the Universal Chinese Sports on the official website of the UCS.
14.1.2 Appraisement Method
The all-around champion is the one who gets the highest total score of Quanshu and Weapons in each age group. When the total scores are same, the one who gets higher score in Quanshu competition place first; if the scores of Quanshu are still same, juxtapose the place in the competition.
14.2 Awards the ‘Best Team’ a prize of CNY 10,000, together with the Cup and the certificate.
14.3 According to the place in the competition, the medals and the certificates shall be awarded.
14.4 According to the Appraisement Method of ‘the Best of the Universal Chinese Sports’, setting up the ‘Best Athlete’, the ‘Best Judge’, the ‘Best Contribution’ and the ‘Best Team’, as follows:

Appraisement Method:
14.4.1 The ‘Best Athlete’ is recommended by each team. The team which has less than 11 participative athletes can recommend one (1) athlete; the team which has more than 10 participative athletes can recommend two (2) athletes. The judges shall recommend one athlete who is not attached to any team;
14.4.2 The ‘Best Judge’ is recommended by the judge group;
14.4.3 The ‘Best Team’. Teams which have at least 10 participative athletes may participate in the appraisement. Take the sum of the team’s first 10 athletes’ highest individual event score as the total score;?
14.4.4 The ‘Best Team’ prize shall be awarded to the team which has the most participants (including the team leader(s), coach(s), athletes and etc.);
14.4.5 According to the overall performance of the recommended person/team, the Appraisement Group of the Organizing Committee of the Competition shall examine and approve the prize winners. All the prize winners shall be awarded the Cup and the certificate.
14.5 For the team which has more than 20 (including 20) athletes who take the Charging Standard A, one person of the team can get the same treatment as other team members for free.
Article 15 Charging Standard (there are Charging Standard A and Charging Standard B for the participants to choose):
15.1 Charging standard A——CNY 1700 or US$ 260 or RM 780.
The charge includes:
● The entry fee;
● Oct. 19 to Oct. 22, 2008, four (4) nights of standard room of four-star hotel (including breakfast);
● The Opening Ceremony
● The Closing Ceremony/Banquet;
● Bus services;
● Accident Insurance during the events.
The charge excludes: (if the participant needs the following services, please make a written explanation and hand in the fees)
○ The return fare (the Organizing Committee shall help the participants of China to buy the airplane tickets at the request of the participant. The concrete ticket price takes the price of the time as standard);
○ Meals (there are a lot of local characteristic restaurants around the venue. The details vide the guidebook of the events);
○ The VISA fee (The Organizing Committee shall help the participants of Chinese Mainland to apply the VISA at the request of the participants. The VISA fee is CNY 300 and the express delivery expense shall be borne by the applicants themselves);
○ The 3-day tour in Malaysia (the concrete price is undetermined till further notice);
○ Other expenses not listed in the regualtion.
15.2 Charging standard B——RM 300 or US$ 100 or CNY660.
The charge only includes:
● The entry fee;
● The Opening Ceremony
● The Closing Ceremony/Banquet.
Article 16 the Entries, the Registration, the Punishment, the Appeals and other related matters see also the General Regulation of the 1st Universal Chinese Sports, Malaysia. If there is any dispute, take the Chinese version of the Regulation of Wushu Competition as the standard.
